Hello EXPLORER Families!

February is a special month filled with opportunities to celebrate love, friendship, community, and history. Throughout this month, our afterschool program will focus on loving one another, building strong friendships, and learning about the important contributions of Black leaders and heroes who have helped shape our world. Community & Loving One Another

In our program, we believe that a strong community is built on kindness, respect, and teamwork. During February, students will participate in activities that encourage:

​

• Showing kindness to others

• Helping friends and classmates

• Using positive words and actions

• Learning how to work together as a team

​​

We will have group discussions, cooperative games, and reflection activities that help students understand what it means to care for one another and be a good friend.

​

FRIENDSHIP FOCUS

​

Friendship is an important part of growing and learning. This month, students will explore:

​

• What makes a good friend

• How to resolve conflicts peacefully

• How to include others and make new friends

​​

Fun friendship-themed crafts, games, and group challenges will help reinforce these skills in a fun and meaningful way.

​

black History Month

​

February is also Black History Month, a time to honor and celebrate the achievements, culture, and contributions of Black Americans. Students will learn about influential figures such as Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks, Mae Jemison, and other leaders, artists, and innovators through:

​

• Age-appropriate stories and videos

• Art projects and writing activities

• Group discussions about fairness, courage, and equality

​​

Our goal is to help students appreciate diversity, respect differences, and understand the importance of standing up for what is right.
